Women to Watch: Nisha

NISHA BALWANI OF RENTALYA

Happy Earth Day, Fearless Females!

As I’m sure you know by now, being a sustainable fashion brand is something we’re very proud of 365 days a year. Since we are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day today, we didn’t have to think twice about featuring another eco-friendly, woman-owned business on this Woman to Watch Wednesday.

We’d love to introduce you to Nisha Balwani, founder of RENTALYA.

Nisha, an Indian American from New Jersey, grew up attending over 20 events a year wearing traditional Indian attire.

“We would walk into these events, scan the room, and inevitably see a select one or two people in stunning outfits. Everyone in the room was thinking the same thing: Where did she buy that?”

Nisha loves feeling connected to her culture. “There’s no better way to express that than through my outfits, but I just never felt confident or happy in what I was wearing.”

Realizing she wasn’t alone, she built RENTALYA - a fashion rental platform - which makes finding South Asian fashion affordable and accessible. “Think Rent the Runway for South Asian fashion, for customers who want to upgrade their wardrobe without the price tag or try new trends without the commitment.”

Cheers to solution-oriented women and to our beautiful planet.
