Women to Watch: Marta


Marta Wöhrle is an entrepreneur and business builder with more than 20 years experience as a digital media strategist, online community builder, ecommerce expert and beauty/personal care product developer.

Marta is the founder of Truth in Aging (www.truthinaging.com), an online community that reviews beauty and personal care products to curate its own ecommerce experience. The community serves to crowd-source product development contributing to her proprietary Truth Vitality anti-aging products, including an FDA-cleared medical device. Marta is the 2017 recipient of the Retail Innovator Award, the 2018 Women 2 Watch for Retail Disruption category winner and a nominee for the 2020 Women 2 Watch Business Disruption category.

The co-founder of My Friend Violet, a newco created to launch intimate personal care products for women, Marta has developed the first product, a vaginal gel, based on data-driven insights from the Truth In Aging community. 

Marta is also a founding investor and advisor of Sawhorse Media, creator of the Shorty Awards for the best use of Twitter and MuckRack, a service to assist the public relations industry to engage with journalists using short-form media

Marta previously served as the SVP of Digital Media at Hachette Filipacchi Media US.  The company grew its digital revenues by 850% in just two and half years under her direction.  During her tenure at Hachette, Marta was honored as one of Advertising Age’s Women to Watch and Min Magazine’s 21 Most Intriguing, both in 2007.  

She began her entrepreneurial success when she founded the UK and US based firm Informed Sources in 1994, a strategy and consulting firm working directly at board and C-suite levels in media and investment banking.  She sold the firm to Mercer Management Consulting in 2002. 

She spent the first 11 years of her career as a reporter and editor, regularly published in The Sunday TimesThe Financial TimesThe Guardian and The Glasgow Herald.
