In the summer of 2020, seeing the disproportionate effect that the pandemic was having on women, Kate Isler and her Co-founder Susan Gates knew they had to do something.
They wanted to create a platform where women could launch or grow a business, find resources to help them succeed and meet other women entrepreneurs and business owners. A little less than three months later, TheWMarketplace was born.
TheWMarketplace highlights over 400 women-owned brands featuring products that range from apparel to specialty teas as well as services such as legal consultation and skin care.
"Each of us bring our passion for equality to this business every day, and we are excited to share that passion with every business who sells or promotes their products and services on this platform. We show up every day excited to do this work."
Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Kate had a dynamic career working for many years overseas for Microsoft where she honed her business and leadership skills. In her recent memoir, Breaking Borders, she explains how she navigated the male-dominated culture of the technology industry, breaking new global markets for Microsoft in their fast-paced, hyper-growth startup years in some of the most challenging regions in the world – all without a college degree or resources that many believe are necessary for success.
It was through these experiences in her early career that solidified Kate's belief that in order to accelerate the closure of the gender gap, we must support women in business, buy from each other, and work together – when women work together we are unstoppable!
