HAPPY WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH!

Every March, it’s wonderful to reflect on the great women in our history that have gotten us to this point; change-making ladies that have paved and continue to pave the way for the rest of us. Naturally, we thought it would be neat to explore the #HERSTORY of the women’s tuxedo throughout this exciting month.

Who’s your favorite “boundary pusher” in women’s history? During the 1930s, Berlin-born movie star, Marlene Dietrich, was the first woman to don a tuxedo for her role in Josef von Sternberg’s Morocco. At this time in history, it was a move that was quite scandalous (and true to her character), as it wasn’t quite acceptable yet for a woman to be wearing pants as a fashion item. Dietrich was the epitome of bold and beautiful, always pushing boundaries.
